SELF LOVE

Fall in love with all the parts of your unique shining beautiful yourself

Love, Kindness & Unconditional Acceptance of Yourself.

Maitri is a concept of love, kindness, gentleness, and absolute acceptance of yourself. It is an ability to feel at home in your body, in control of your mind, welcoming and flowing through a full range of emotions, accepting your gifts and darkness without judgment. The practice of Maitri is a training in settling down with yourself, just as you are - accepting all and rejecting none.

There is a tremendous gift in taking time and effort to know your True Self – you can discover who you are at your wisest and who you are at your most confusing times. You get to know yourself in all your aspects.

Self-deprivation, self-criticism, emotional numbing, worthiness issues and toxic shame are rooted deep in today's fast-paced society. It is crucial to learn to slow down, to know your needs, to listen and understand the language of your body and emotions, establish a strong connection with your unconscious.

Self-love is the principle of showing respect, regard and kindness for your Self, your Truth and moral values. Self-esteem is about recognizing potential and worth, taking pride in what you do and trusting your own judgment in life.

There is a tremendous difference between egoistic narcissism and self-love, self-esteem and self-appreciation.

Why Cultivate Self-Love and Befriend Yourself?

Aside from making you feel good, self-love can benefit your life in many ways:

Greater Life Satisfaction. Appreciating yourself helps you appreciate your life. When you hold yourself in high esteem and know you are fulfilling your purpose in life, you have more enjoyment and a more positive attitude toward the future.

Motivation for Healthy Habits. Self-love can motivate you to adopt healthy habits and take care of your physical self because you care enough to value all of the parts of you. You begin to express your love for yourself by doing things that make you look and feel your best.

Better Mental Health. Mental health issues are more likely to resolve quickly – or less likely to develop altogether – for people who love themselves. Self-love can keep you from getting lost in your own head and going down a path toward negative thoughts and beliefs.

Reduction in Stress and Increase in Performance. Self-love reduces stress, lessens procrastination and reduces performance anxiety. Without those last minute doubts about yourself, you can complete projects with all of your energy, rather than wasting some on procrastination and setting yourself up for failure.

Increased Ability to Deal With Life Challenges. People who practice self-love rebound from adversity faster than those who wallow in self-loathing. You can’t control what life throws at you, but you can manage your own response. People who feel good about themselves handle life crises better and move on to the good times faster.

Helichrysum is a true healer of the plant kingdom, healing both, our external physical and internal deep emotional wounds and a broken heart. The plant’s name comes from the Greek words helios (meaning “sun”) and chrysos (meaning "gold") and had been praised by old and modern civilizations for its notorious therapeutic abilities and a vast array of uses in the cultural and medicinal realms.

Helichrysum brings persistence, endurance, and courage, enabling the path ahead to be clearer. Gives awareness of possible dangers and pitfalls of life.

Bergamot FCF* has an aroma that clears away muddling fogginess, allowing the higher spiritual self to become attuned to itself. Bergamot helps us transfer love back to ourselves. We can be so fixated on wanting other people to make us happy that we forget we can do that for ourselves. Bergamot is uplifting, has natural anti-depressant properties, and helps us to relax and regain self-confidence again.

Bergamot oil helps us in the areas of self-love, self-worth, self-acceptance, self-judgment, and to fight self-loathing. The oil helps do the work necessary to step out of one’s fears of not being good enough, and habits of holding back for fear of rejection. It instills validation within, allowing us to accept our own authenticity, not worrying about the opinions of others.

It also helps us in processing and releasing fear, blame, the need for approval, toxic shame, and emotional anguish. It may also relieve feelings of incompetence, inadequacy, or worthlessness by helping us step into our own confidence and empowerment.

*FCF indicates bergapten-free – there are no photosensitizing effects, making bergamot safe for topical applications prior to sun exposure.

Cistus is a great ally in the work of bringing secrets and hidden information from the unconscious mind and cellular memory to the surface of our awareness.

Frankincense is legendary in its traditional and sacred uses and its ability to instill deep tranquility of mind, making it ideal for meditation purposes. Soothing and balsamic – on both physical and spiritual levels – Frankincense eases the mind when troubled by thoughts of regret and worries of a mundane kind. Frankincense helps cleanse the auric (energetic) field with its protective, purifying, and grounding qualities.

In addition to alleviating and eliminating depression, Frankincense is known as the ‘Oil of Truth,’ revealing deceptiveness and false truths. It invites the individual to let go of lower vibrations, insults, and negativity. This oil helps create new perspectives based on integrity and enlightenment.

Frankincense is a powerful cleanser of the spirit. It assists in removing malevolent energies, allowing a person to open to enlightenment. Frankincense addresses emotions of abandonment and spiritual disconnectedness.

Patchouli connects us to our own body, helping to release patterns of shame or ‘not being enough’ about our bodies, and enables us to feel love and acceptance of our physical self. It does this by acting as grounding support, helping to reconnect with and settle into your body. It is primarily used to align the heart chakra with the root and sacral chakras. It does this by releasing obsessions, insecurities, and jealousies and enhancing our desire to live a fuller life.

Ginger’s spicy, warm scent is known to make a person feel confident, courageous, and self-assured, which is why people call it the ‘oil of empowerment.’ It is restorative during times of emotional depletion.

Galbanum with its piney, exotic, rich, warm, woody, slightly musky, pungent aroma has an affinity for the 1st, 6th, and 7th chakras. It helps to heighten spiritual communication and awareness, brings on a feeling of calm, stability, focus and concentration. Cathy Skipper, my mentor and an expert on Ancestral Healing, believes that Galbanum helps us face our original power and ancestral strength that it pushes us to manifest.

The True and False Self

True Self and False Self are concepts introduced into psychoanalysis in 1960 by D. W. Winnicott. He used the term "True Self" to describe a sense of self based on spontaneous authentic experience, and a feeling of being alive, having a "real self". "False Self", by contrast, Winnicott saw as a defensive facade—one which in extreme cases could leave its holders lacking spontaneity and feeling dead and empty, behind a mere appearance of being real.

One of the most surprising but powerful explanations for why we may, as adults, be in trouble mentally is that we were, in our earliest years, denied the opportunity to be fully ourselves. We were not allowed to be willful and difficult, we could not be as demanding, aggressive, intolerant, and unrestrictedly selfish as we needed to be. Because our caregivers were preoccupied or fragile, we had to be preternaturally attuned to their demands, sensing that we had to comply in order to be loved and tolerated; we had to be false before we had the chance to feel properly alive. And as a result, many years later, without quite understanding the process, we risk feeling unanchored, inwardly dead and somehow not entirely present. (1)

If we recognize that we live as False Self, there is always a second chance. Various techniques and therapies are available to regress before the time when we started to be False, back to the moment when we so desperately needed to be true. We can learn – once more – to be real.
