Plant Medicine For Reparenting Yourself And Healing The Mother Wound.

The Mother Wound is a concept used in psychology to describe the emotional pain and trauma that can arise from a problematic mother-child relationship, particularly if the mother was emotionally unavailable, abusive, neglectful, or otherwise unable to meet the child's needs for love, support, and nurturing. It can manifest as a deep sense of unworthiness, low self-esteem, difficulty trusting others, and difficulty forming healthy relationships in adulthood. I wrote more on this important subject in my article "Why Healing Mother Wound and Mother Archetype is Crucial for Modern Society".

There are many ways to address the Mother's Wound, including therapy, inner child work, group support, and self-care practices. But how can flower essences and essential oils help you to reparent yourself and address the Mother Wound?

Flower essences are vibrational medicine that works energetically to help bring balance and harmony to mind, body, and spirit. They are made from the energetic imprint of flowers and can help address imbalances in emotions and thought patterns.

Here are some ways that flower essences can help in reparenting yourself:

  1. Addressing emotional imbalances: Flower essences can help address emotional imbalances related to the Mother Wound, such as feelings of abandonment, unworthiness, or low self-esteem.

  2. Connecting with inner nurturing: Flower essences can help you connect with your inner nurturing and compassionate self, which can help in the reparenting process.

  3. Supporting personal growth: Flower essences can support personal growth and development by helping to release negative patterns and behaviors that may have been learned due to the Mother Wound.

  4. Encouraging self-love: Flower essences can promote self-love and self-acceptance, which are essential aspects of the reparenting process.

Healing the mother archetype can be a profoundly transformative process leading to greater self-awareness, self-acceptance, and self-love.

Here are a few of my favorite flower essences for working with the mother archetype and addressing the Mother Wound:

Mariposa Lily helps balance the nurturing and supportive qualities of the mother archetype. It assists with cleansing sad or painful memories of our mothers from our aura and helps us find a way toward forgiveness and reconciliation. It can also help those who struggle with feeling overwhelmed or overbearing in their mothering role.

Pink Yarrow is excellent for those with difficulty setting boundaries with others, including children. It can help promote healthy separation and individuation between the mother and child.

Evening Primrose helps you to release old wounds and feelings of rejection, self-pity, and other heart-heavy issues you may have carried from birth or early childhood. It helps address a profound feeling of rejection stemming from in-utero or early childhood experience that leads to avoidance of relationship commitment, fear of parenthood, sexual and emotional coldness, or repression.

Buttercup is one of my favorite essences for feelings of low self-worth, inability to acknowledge or experience one's inner light, and uniqueness resulting in seeking constant validation.

Black-eyed Susan is the classic anti-repressor. It is a powerful essence for unlocking areas of old trauma or painful places we've walled off ourselves. It lends us the courage to go deep within and release those things trapped in our subconscious. This essence will bring light into the darkest areas, helping you to identify and shed hurts and burdens.

Rose is a highly nutritive flower essence that cradles and nourishes the emotional heart, making this flower essence a vital tool to utilize when we need loving support. It energetically strengthens us and supports dynamic equilibrium, helping us to feel safe and contained. Rose supports healing grief, heartbreak, nervousness, panic, sadness, emotional trauma, apathy, disconnection, and daily stress.

Echinacea is a fantastic essence for reparenting the Core Self and rebuilding self-esteem and dignity after abuse. It helps transition from an old traumatized self-image to a new, fully-integrated person. It maintains protection around you while you are vulnerable and weakened but doesn't leave you there. Childhood traumas can shatter a person's core identity, causing you to dissociate or adopt a different persona to get through. Echinacea helps restore true identity and wholeness by releasing the old, especially for those who do not feel fully present.

Bleeding Heart is a powerful heart cleanser and strengthener for those who must learn the more profound spiritual lessons of love and freedom. Through Bleeding Heart flower essence, the soul learns to fill itself from within with spiritual forces so that the capacity to love another is based on the ability to honor and nourish the Self.

Joshua Tree awakens your unique identity and gives a distinct awareness of this awakening. This flower essence cleans family patterns that block our adaptability and are outdated, that darken the soul, forcing us to drag a negative karma originating from our ancestors.

Fuchsia flower essence works magic on suppressed emotions of anger and grief related to old trauma that can be encountered and effectively transformed. It teaches you to immediately recognize pain and intense emotions as they arise so you can free yourself to be more emotionally authentic and vital.

Angelica is the essence for feeling protection and guidance from spiritual beings, to be connected to Heaven, with the Above, and hearing and understanding your soul's purpose. Feeling protected and cared for gives the soul strength and courage for its work in transforming and healing the world.

Flower essences can be a helpful tool for working with the mother archetype and Mother Wound, promoting healing and balance in this aspect of the psyche. To use flower essences for reparenting, you can work privately with Anna Bazarnaya, a qualified practitioner, to help you select the most appropriate ones for your needs.

Emotional aromatherapy uses essential oils to help support emotional wellness and promote feelings of calm, balance, and relaxation. It can be a helpful tool for reparenting yourself and healing the Mother Wound.

Here are some ways that emotional aromatherapy can help with the Mother Wound:

Calming the nervous system: Essential oils such as lavender, chamomile, and Frankincense can help calm the nervous system and promote relaxation and tranquility, helping reduce stress and anxiety often related to the Mother Wound.

Promoting self-awareness: Essential oils such as peppermint, rosemary, and lemon can help promote mental clarity and focus, which can help promote self-awareness and self-reflection.

Addressing emotional imbalances: Essential oils such as ylang-ylang, bergamot, and geranium can help address emotional imbalances related to the Mother Wound, such as sadness, anger, or low self-esteem.

Creating a nurturing environment: Using essential oils in a diffuser or adding them to a bath can help create a nurturing environment that promotes self-love and self-acceptance.

Below are my favorite essential oils that I use in my practice working on deep emotional healing, including Mother Wound:

Rose Otto (The Oil of Divine Love) was used for thousands of years for health and beauty and during times of stress, particularly while experiencing grief, to soothe the anxiety associated with it. Rose otto is a high-vibrational spiritual oil with a frequency of 320 MHz.

Helichrysum (The oil of Pain) vibrates at 181 MHz and is a true healer of the plant kingdom, healing both our external physical and internal deep emotional wounds and a broken heart.

Frankincense (The oil of Truth) vibrates at 147 MHz. It is legendary in its traditional and sacred uses and ability to instill deep tranquility of mind, making it ideal for meditation. In addition to alleviating and eliminating depression, Frankincense is known as the 'Oil of Truth,' revealing deceptiveness and false truths and addressing emotions of abandonment and spiritual disconnectedness.

Bergamot (The Oil of Self-Acceptance) vibrates at 105 MHz and has an aroma that clears away muddling fogginess and helps us transfer love back to ourselves. We can be so fixated on wanting others to make us happy that we forget we can do that for ourselves. Bergamot is uplifting, has natural anti-depressant properties, and helps us relax and regain self-confidence.

Cistus is an excellent ally in bringing secrets and intimate information from the unconscious mind and cellular memory to the surface of our awareness.

Patchouli connects us to our body, helping to release patterns of shame or 'not being enough' about our bodies, and enables us to feel love and acceptance of our physical self.

Frangipani's aroma feels like a powerful infusion of love from the Higher Realms. It is an incredible source of inner peace, positivity, and self-confidence, attracting love and uplifting the spirit.

Rosemary assists in coping with emotional pressure and transitions and in fighting self-sabotage. It helps people during times of confusion and difficulty, even willful ignorance or a lack of wanting to deal with a situation for fear that it is too much to handle.

Juniper Berry encourages and supports those who fear the dark or obscure part of themselves. Rather than running away or hiding from the unknown, Juniper helps individuals dig deeper and learn from fear. It mainly benefits those who resist searching deep, which is required for healing. It helps us understand that the things we fear are there as teachers.

To use emotional aromatherapy for reparenting, you can work with a qualified aromatherapist or do some research to choose essential oils that resonate with your specific needs related to the Mother Wound.

You can use essential oils in a diffuser, add them to a bath, or apply them topically (diluted with carrier oil). It's important to use high-quality, pure essential oils and follow recommended dosage and usage instructions. Additionally, it's important to note that while essential oils can help promote emotional wellness, they should not be used as a substitute for professional therapy or medical treatment.

As a certified aromatherapist and flower essence practitioner, I put together the Mother Wound Healing Kit that includes four important plant remedies:

  • Mother Wound Flower Essence Elixir, 30 ml

  • Lion's Heart Flower Essence Elixir, 30 ml

  • True Self Maitri (Self-Love) Aroma Roll-On, 10 ml

  • True Self Release Aroma Roll-On, 10 ml

They contain effective combinations of individual flower essences and essential oils that I listed above. The kit was designed to accompany Healing The Mother Archetype With Plant Medicine or can be used as a supportive tool to accompany psychotherapy, support groups, and self-care practices.
